My Dad is a BIG yard sale lover. He also really loves and appreciates old things, antiques, but especially old books — he’s got a library full of em’!
My Dad is also the kindest, most generous man with a big ole’ heart. He is always so willing to help people out, lend a hand, etc. My Dad has also been known to buy things for people on his shopping or yard sale adventures. Things/items he knows someone may enjoy. Yup, because he is just THAT nice!
So on one of his recent yard sale trips, he came across something he liked and something he thought my Mom would like, an antique butter churn.
This churn is so full of charm and character with it’s warm wood tones, aged appearance and metal details.
Churns out {LOL} my Mom didn’t really “appreciate” the charm of this piece and said to my Dad “Why don’t you give it to Shelly?? She’ll love it!”.
Of course I was thrilled to receive this neat, old butter churn {even if I was second choice
}, not only for it’s character, but also because our last name MEANS “butter” in Portuguese! {My husbands heritage is Portuguese}.
My husband and I both had the same idea when my Dad gave it to us…. let’s put our last name on it!!
I pulled out my handy-dandy Cricut to make a stencil.
I mixed dark green & black acrylic paint for my letters….
Once the paint was fully dry, I lightly distressed the letters to give it that worn, aged look.
