Hand-made ornaments and compromises

This past weekend, I was recovering from a pretty bad cold.

We took it easy hanging out at home with the exception of a trip to the grocery store, a soccer game and church.

I love these easy, relaxing weekends with no pressure to be anywhere, and with only time on our hands.

And with time, comes some crafting!

While relaxing yesterday, I made three Christmas ornaments.

Trust me, I’m in no rush for the holidays to be here, but I recently saw ornaments like this on a blog that I follow.  {For the life of me, I can’t seem to remember which blog it was but when I do I will let you know}.

Anyway, I had everything on hand to make these ornaments and it didn’t require a lot of energy so it was perfect.

I used:

:: larger foam balls (3)

:: vintage sheet music

:: Mod Podge

:: a paint brush

:: jute twine

:: baker’s twine

:: vellum paper

:: glitter

:: scrap fabric

:: stamp pad and stamps

:: a hot glue gun.

Here is how they came out….

I also did a bit of compromising this weekend as well.

Although my husband really likes the buffet and hutch that I refinished back when, he really wanted me to take the hutch part down.  He said it blocks our views.

{ hutch just after I refinished it last year }

I didn’t necessarily agree because I love my hutch and displaying my white pitchers, dishes and milk glass.

But then my husband  said “okay, if you get rid of the hutch you can have your chandelier,  how about that??”

Hmmmm???

I have been wanting a kitchen chandelier to hang above our table.  I have a very large ceiling medallion that would look amazing there as well, hence my desire for the chandelier.

So yesterday after church, while Michael was working in our yard, I took the hutch down and moved it into my work room.

Michael was thrilled!

My son even said “wow Mom, the views are SO much better!”

{I must say, they’re right, but I’m not admitting anything!}

I put a few things on top of the buffet…

And  put my white pitchers and dishes elsewhere and put my milk glass away.

Cuz that’s what you do in a relationship ~ you compromise.

Even if sometimes it may be for selfish reasons :)

Hey, all in the name of home decorating right??

hee heeee heeeeeee….
