With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, I thought I would share some pics of our fun, Valentine-inspired mantel.
{ I’ve added tutorials at the bottom of this post }
It’s pretty simple, crepe paper rose balls, a “LOVE” burlap bunting and scrapbook paper rosettes, all done in Valentine colors.
I did leave my starfish/shell garland hanging as well as the driftwood sailboat on the mantel.
Superbowl sunday and the girls and I were very excited before the game…
Ready to cheer for our team, the Patriots and we even made a fun cake…
Needless-to-say, our team lost
But we still love our Patriots!

Moving on to the tutorials.
Anything to stop thinking about that game !
Ugh.
~~~~~
First tutorial
These are fun, easy, and cheap to make!
Keep in mind however, the larger the styrofoam ball you choose, the longer is takes (obviously), but if you get board from repetitive work, I suggest using a smaller ball for your first time.
This way you won’t give up because it definitely is repetitive.
Supplies needed:
:: Crepe paper (dollar store has lots of colors!)
:: Styrofoam ball (any size)
:: Glue stick (or two)
:: Hot glue gun and glue
:: Ruler
:: Ribbon (optional if you want to hang your ball)
~~~~
So, basically you want to cut your crepe paper into strips about 18″ – 24″
Next, apply a thin line of glue stick (not hot glue) to the bottom part of the strip of paper.
Then roll each piece of crepe paper until it resembles a rose bud.
I twist and pinch the bottom part of my buds.
Then apply hot glue and place onto the styrofoam ball.
{ here’s where the repetitive part comes in }
Repeat this until the entire ball in covered.
And that’s it !
These are SO pretty, I just love mine !
I made 4 ~ white, light pink, bright pink and red.
Here are some photos that may help you because sometimes I don’t explain myself so well.
And personally, I just LOVE me a picture tutorial.

Next tutorial
I just love making these fun paper rosettes or pinwheels.
I made some last year for Teacher Appreciation Day.
Here are the supplies needed for this project:
:: scrapbook paper
:: hot glue gun
:: embellishments (i.e. sequins, doilies, ribbon, glitter, etc.)
~~~
So here is how I made my paper rosettes in photos.
I don’t think I need get all wordy, the pics do a pretty good job.
So what have you been making to decorate or to give as gifts this Valentine’s ??
Have a lovely day !
