Isn’t it hard choosing presents for guys ???
I know, I’m not alone ~ I’ve heard this from my mom, sisters, friends and other women ~ men are just hard to buy for !
{ they probably say the same about us too, but we know they’re wrong! We’re easy-peasy ! }
I love to give sentimental gifts. Sentimental and homemade are even better !
I was blessed with a husband who can communicate like no other man I have ever known.
( well, other than my Dad of course )
Seriously, Michael has always been so expressive, open and he shares his feelings and his love for me and our children so naturally.
This outspoken quality is one of many things that made me fall so in love with him.
I can’t tell you how many times throughout our years together, I’ve been surprised with a “Hey Shell, I want to tell you something”.
Of course I immediately think “oh God, what did I do now ?!? “
When in fact, Michael just wanted to tell me how much he loves me, our family, our life and how happy and blessed he feels.
I know, he really is that wonderful !!
I’m not bragging, just telling you how it is.
Michael makes it so easy for me to communicate my feelings to him as well, for that I am very grateful.
I hope that everyone can say that they have someone who tells them how much they are loved and appreciated.
Because everyone deserves someone like that.
So not to embarrass him anymore, I will stop here.

Last Valentine’s Day, I decided to embellish a journal I bought with some burlap, felt, buttons and the word LOVE that I hand-embroidered.
Actually, this journal was a gift for both of us.
My intention was to place this journal on our night stand and whenever we felt like writing a sweet message or love note we could, and we would have them forever.
This journal idea came from our trip to Italy in 2000.
Talk about romantic !
We visited Venice, Capri, Sorrento, Rome, Florence and Pompeii.
Simply amazing and early in our relationship, the “pre-marriage-honeymoon” stage.
Before we left Italy, we decided to buy a journal.
On the plane heading back home, we wrote about our trip and also incorporated little love messages to one another.
We love to look back and read that little journal that holds all of those early, romantic memories.
I hope to do the same with this “LOVE” journal too.

This year, I wanted to make Michael a bracelet with a hand-stamped message.
Simple, but meaningful.
I used some leather cording and a 1″ sterling washer.
I didn’t want it to “scream” love so I decided to keep it simple.
I stamped 1 4 3
That’s all.
If you don’t know what 1 4 3 means, it means “I LOVE YOU”
I – 1 letter
LOVE – 4 letters
YOU – 3 letters
I decided to give this bracelet to Michael early, I just couldn’t wait !
And he loves it.
I may eventually offer men’s leather washer bracelets, but for now there is just one.
And it belongs to my main squeeze.
