A sure sign that summer is approaching in our seaside neighborhood is seeing boats in the bay.
Yup, boats dropped in the water and attached to their moorings for the upcoming summer months.
I just love seeing them added to the seascape, sometimes daily and especially on warm sunny days.
I also LOVE watching them as they drive by our home.
We see lots of boats, some jet skiers and kayakers.
Lately, we’ve also been seeing paddle boarders paddling by.
I would love to try it sometime, it looks like a great workout and a great way to see the bay.

My husband recently put our floating dock in the water.
We got this dock last summer and it has been such a fun addition to our summertime.
Our three kids love the dock and have such an appreciation of the water AND without much fear.
{ Unlike their mother }
They just have a ball swimming from the shore and out to the dock at high tide.
They laugh, splash and their voices carry so darn loud I feel like the entire neighborhood can hear them.
They probably can, but hey, they are having fun and it’s almost summer after all.
Here are a few pics my husband took just the other day of our kids playfully enjoying the first few days on (and in) the water.
Truthfully, I have NO idea how they could stand it !! The water is still WAY too cold for me, but the kids just don’t seem to mind.
Ahhh, to be young again.
Thanks to my husband and my Dad, we added a staircase from our backyard down the the water many years ago.
It was just about sunset when the kids were swimming.
I know this is totally irrational, but I’m totally scarred from JAWS which I saw WAY too young at 7 or 8 years old.
This is what I heard in my head as they swam….
♫ Duuun dun
duuun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun ♫
……
I know, totally sick and I had to keep ignoring it.
I mean we are in the bay after all!
{ But isn’t that what “they said” in one of the JAWS movies ?!? }
I love that movie, but I NEVER EVER want my kids to see it, I mean it scarred me and millions of other people FOR LIFE !
I do and will swim in the ocean, but I still have to try and ignore this vision in my head….
** chills **
This is what prevents me from really being able to enjoy the ocean.
Or a deep pool for that matter.
{ I know, totally irrational }
Ugh.
Thanks Steven Spielberg.
~~~~~~~
Anyway, I am so pleased that my kids LOVE the ocean and enjoy all that it has to offer.
They enjoy all kinds of water activities like swimming, kayaking, sailing, tubing, and boating.
We are all so excited.
You ???
Are you ready for the summer ??
On three….
HIP
HIP
HOOOORAY!!!
hahaha….
~~~~~
I pray for a safe and fun summer with my kids and my husband.
One with no alarm clocks set, no shoes; only flip flops, lots of sun; but with sunblock, lemonade stands, ball games,
swing sets, bike rides, boating, beach days, day trips, nature, swimming to the dock, adventures and lots of fun!
So, what are your plans this summer ??
I would love to hear.
Can’t believe it’s almost here!
Woo Hoo !!
